The August hiatus arrives

Like psychiatrists, the Schwyzers vacation in August. This blog will be dark until the week of August 24. When I have the internet connection and the time, I will moderate comments and jump into discussion threads if needed.

  1. The Los Angeles Schwyzers. Actually, my sisters and stepmom are in Spain right now, my brother’s family is in Austria, and my mother is in Carmel getting ready to go to England in October. We’re off to the UK tomorrow.

  2. I found your blog through stumbleupon and I almost couldn’t believe it. I will admit after reading a few of your postings, the thought entered, “wait a minute. He’s a straight guy, christian and pro-LGBTQ rights? Am I getting that right?”

I don’t even know why I’m writing a comment, as I so rarely do.

I have been so turned-off to not only Christianity, but also Christians. I am being honest, and I know it’s shameful, but whenever anyone says they’re Christian, I think, “Oh god. Another one?” And I think perhaps justifiably so, even if only by a little. It seems their biggest platform is anti-choice, anti-gay rights, anti-everything; which seems so backwards as their biggest platform SHOULD be kindness, humility, sharing, etc. I think the image I’ve seen, the one they push the hardest is very unbecoming.

I will admit I’m stopped in my tracks by you. I’ve always thought myself open-minded, except for when it comes to Christians – awful, I know.

I just wanted to say thank you, that I’m listening and learning. And I have a lot of re-thinking to do.
