On the Ricki Lake Show

Last month, I taped an episode of the Ricki Lake Show, talking about circumcision. The clip of my appearance aired today:

I’d like to think that the make-up artist made it believable that I could pass for 37,which is how the video title describes me.

IF you’re really interested, there’s a UStream of my appearance today with the “After Ricki” team. Much lower quality, but an interesting discussion.

  1. While I fully support your decision to be circumcised, I was extremely disappointed to hear that you chose to violate your son’s bodily integrity by forcing him to undergo a circumcision that wasn’t medically necessary – and robbing him of the opportunity to one day make that choice for himself.

    • Not only that, but to reveal something his son may later feel is very personal and humiliating on national television. This man has neither shame nor tact.

  2. Circumcision has documented health benefits, in terms of reducing the incidence of sexual transmitted disease, etc. So I’m fully in favour of circumcision for medical reasons.

What disturbs me is that Mr. Schwyzer appears to have been circumcised for religious and/or ideological feminist reasons, which I thoroughly disagree with.

  3. This is now the THIRD time I have commented on this piece and we will see if it is the third time you have CENSORED my comments.

You CUT your son against his will. Plain and simple. You would never dare tell women or girls what to do with their bodies, would you?

    Outrageous!

  4. People must learn to stop getting into somebody else’s business You’re the father, your child. You have a right to decide what is good for your child at this age. Case closed. I don’t think you mentioned which hospital you had your laser circumcision done? I don’t think the USA has many hospitals or doctors that do that. I’m wondering why this is so? And what would be the “benefits” or pros and cons of laser vs scapel? I like how you were so open about something so personal. Thanks.
